The closest train station is Bordesley which opens for matchdays only but the chances are you will arrive into Birmingham New Street or Birmingham Moor Street and have to change.
There are options for street parking but not immediately next to the ground. Kingston Road is normally a good shout if you arrive early enough and gets you back towards the A38 or M42 (dependant on which direction you require) without much fuss.
Not much choice immediately near the ground so I'd always recommend drinking in Birmingham City Centre and getting a taxi to the ground.
A favourite of mine is the Shakespeare on Lower Temple Street to start off but the choice is endless really. If walking to the ground, the Bull Ring Tavern tends to be popular with away supporters at the start of your trek.
